They say there’s no business like showbusiness and there will be nothing like a Monday boost for trainer Tim Vaughan if his horse, Showbusiness, wins at Ffos Las on Monday.
The six-year-old runs in the 2.10pm Vickers Bet Handicap Hurdle and is a fancied 10-1 shot, with Welsh jockey Alan Johns on board.
Showbusiness last enjoyed the limelight almost a year ago when he was part of Gordon Elliot’s stable and he won at Punchestown.
The horse was registered with the Vaughan operation this month, but is likely to face a stiff challenge from another Welsh-trained rival, Letterston Lady.
Trained by Peter Bowen and ridden by his Sean Bowen, Letterston Lady had two fourth place finishes earlier this season, but was a winner at Worcester in October.
Celestial Force, trained by Christian Williams, returned after 18 months of inactivity earlier this month to finish fourth at Leicester.
Sean Bowen also rides Prince of Bad Lins in the Play With The Finest Bookmaker Fitzdares Handicap Chase at 4.20pm. He has finished fourth in both starts over fences.
Pembrokeshire trainer Rebecca Curtis provides some of the opposition with Easkey Lad, returning to Ffos Las after being a faller at the course last month in the South Wales Medical Event Cover Handicap Chase.
