PREVIEWS JD CYMRU NORTH

Will the winners of the Cymru North title be decided this weekend?

Both the leaders on goal difference, Flint Town United, and Holywell Town are on 75 points heading into Friday’s matches.

We already know that Flint have been promoted to the JD Cymru Premier as they gained the Tier 1 licence, while the Wellmen failed to do so.

However, Holywell are still favourites to finish up Cymru North champions as they have a game in hand on the Silkmen.

On Friday, the Wellmen travel to a Porthmadog side desperate for a win to secure their Tier 2 status. Prestatyn Town will send Port down if they better the Traeth club’s result at Gresford.

Holywell’s match on Tuesday at home to Llanidloes was abandoned due to a medical emergency in the stand and will need to be replayed.

Sadly, a long-time dedicated Holywell supporter taken ill has passed away.

Town will be determined to get the right result at Y Traeth on Friday in his memory and, despite Port battling to stay up, we think Johnny Haseldin’s men will take three points.

Flint travel to Denbigh Town, whom they have beaten twice this season in the league and Welsh Cup. While Denbigh are still in contention for a top-five finish, Flint have won eight league games on the bounce and can edge the spoils at Central Park.

Airbus can finish no higher than third, and could end up victims of an upset at Guilsfield, who triumphed at Buckley on Tuesday.

Buckley will look to hit back from that loss to Guils when they entertain relegated Chirk.

Prestatyn can pick up a point at Gresford which should be enough to save their Cymru North skins. Athletic are on a decent run of form, though.

Saturday’s only match sees fifth-place chasers Bangor 1876 travel to relegated Llanidloes, where they should win comfortably.

SCORECASTS

Buckley Town 1 Chirk AAA 1

Denbigh Town 1 Flint Town United 2

Gresford Athletic 1 Prestatyn Town 1

Guilsfield 2 Airbus UK Broughton 0

Porthmadog 1 Holywell Town 3

Llanidloes Town 0 Bangor 1876 3

In the national Welsh Blood Service League Cup final being held at Latham Park, Newtown, on Saturday evening, Mold Alexandra will have their work cut out against Cymru South champions Briton Ferry Llansawel.

Although almost assured of fourth-place in Cymru North, Mold’s last three league games have delivered bad defeats – 4-0 and 6-3 home and away respectively versus Flint and 3-0 against Ruthin Town at Alyn Park.

In between, they did see off Llandudno 3-1 to lift the WBS League Cup Northern trophy.

If Alex have one more big performance left in them – and what a way it would be to say farewell to departing manager Mike Cunningham – then they could overcome the considerable challenge of Briton Ferry, but the form book favours a South Wales win

.SCORECAST

Briton Ferry Llansawel 3 Mold Alexandra 1

In Ardal North East, after suffering just a second league defeat of the season at home to Dolgellau on Wednesday, Llanuwchllyn should bounce back and regain second spot with a win at fourth-from-bottom Llanfair United.

Dolgellau’s tremendous result at Llanuwchllyn in midweek must give them a fine chance of at least a point at Cefn Albion.

Llangollen Town versus Rhos Aelwyd should be a very close encounter and the same is true of Llansantffraid Village against Builth Wells. Two draws are the pick here.

While their title challenge has died off, Radnor Valley can get the better of next-to-bottom visitors Llanrhaeadr.

SCORECASTS

Cefn Albion 1 Dolgellau AA 1

Llanfair United 1 Llanuwchllyn 4

Llangollen Town 1 CPD Rhos Aelwyd 1

Llansantffraid Village 2 Builth Wells 2

Radnor Valley 3 Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant 1

Another cracking Saturday is on the cards in the Ardal North West title race.

CPD Y Rhyl 1879 have a tricky test at home to St Asaph, but Saints’ form has been patchy of late and the Lilywhites might just shade it to maintain top spot.

Flint Mountain, in second and just three points behind Rhyl with four games in hand, should also be pushed hard by Llangefni Town, who can upset the best on their day. Expect a home victory, though.

Llay Welfare’s remarkable run to throw themselves into title contention can continue to flourish when they host Hawarden Rangers.

Elsewhere, Pwllheli can take the honours at bottom side Felinheli if they maintain the finishing form they displayed at Bethesda last weekend.

Bethesda themselves were impressive 4-0 winners at home to Felin in midweek and should take at last a point when they entertain Brickfield.

Llanrwst United will make life far from easy for Llannefydd, while Nantlle Vale should comfortably see off a Conwy Borough outfit whose form has dipped of late.

Hard to bet against Holyhead Hotspur making it seven league wins in a row when they visit a bottom-placed Saltney side they battered 8-0 on Holy Island last month.

SCORECASTS

Bethesda Athletic 2 Brickfield Rangers 2

CPD Y Felinheli 1 CPD Pwllheli 2

Flint Mountain 2 Llangefni Town 1

Llay Welfare 3 Hawarden Rangers 0

Llanrwst United 1 CPD Llannefydd 1

Nantlle Vale 4 Conwy Borough 1

CPD Y Rhyl 1879 2 St Asaph City 1

Saltney Town 0 Holyhead Hotspur 4
