PREVIEWS
JD CYMRU NORTH
A huge game on Friday evening sees leaders Airbus UK Broughton entertain champions Holywell Town, currently lying third.
The Wellmen are already trailing the Wingmakers by nine points and will be anxious to avoid the gap getting any wider.
Unusually, Johnny Haseldin’s side are not in the best of form, so the pressure is on the title holders at the Hollingsworth Group Stadium.
However, Holywell have proven so many times in the past they are most dangerous with their backs to the wall.
We think they can pick up a point at Airbus.
Second-place Colwyn Bay will be aiming to capitalise on any possible Airbus slip up when they host bottom side Prestatyn Town. Expect a comfortable win for the Seagulls.
Denbigh Town versus Llandudno has a much more even look to it and we can foresee a high-scoring draw at Central Park.
Flint Mountain are riding high in fourth after three straight wins, including a magnificent 2-1 success at Holywell last time out.
Aden Shannon’s side face a tough assignment on Friday at home to Buckley Town, who will be determined to bounce back after last weekend’s unfortunate Welsh Cup loss to Colwyn Bay.
Again, this one has the makings of a draw.
On to Saturday and a good contest in prospect at the Recreation Ground between Caersws and Bangor 1876, who have just drawn one another in the Welsh Cup last 32.
Caersws are banging in the goals of late and might just have the edge against 1876.
Gresford Athletic versus Penrhyncoch has draw written all over it, Mold Alexandra should take the spoils at Llay Welfare, while Ruthin Town against Guilsfield is a very difficult call.
SCORECASTS
Airbus UK 1 Holywell Town 1
Colwyn Bay 5 Prestatyn Town 0
Denbigh Town 3 Llandudno 3
Flint Mountain 2 Buckley Town 2
Caersws 2 Bangor 1876 1
Gresford Athletic 1 Penrhyncoch 1
Llay Welfare 1 Mold Alexandra 3
Ruthin Town 2 Guilsfield 2
ARDAL NORTH EAST
Leaders Bow Street may have to be content with a point at Builth Wells on Saturday.
Cefn Albion will be boosted by last weekend’s win at Rhos Aelwyd, while the Cefners’ next opponents, Llangollen Town, may still be in shellshock after their 16-0 Welsh Cup defeat at The New Saints.
However, Town have been performing well in the league all season, and are a good shout for a draw at least away to Albion.
Next-to-bottom Chirk lost just 3-2 at Dolgellau Athletic last time out and the Colliers could get a positive result in Saturday’s quick return match at Holyhead Road. However, we take Dolgellau to win again.
Kerry can up the pressure on table-toppers Bow Street with three points at Llandrindod, while improving Llanidloes should overcome the hurdle of basement team Llansantffraid.
Welsh Cup giant-killers Llanuwchllyn versus Brickfield Rangers has the makings of a cracker and we predict a narrow home win.
Penycae need to rediscover their recent fine form at home to Radnor Valley, while Rhos Aelwyd will have to work hard to take anything at home to Llanfair United.
SCORECASTS
Builth Wells 1 Bow Street 1
Cefn Albion 1 Llangollen Town 2
Chirk AAA 1 Dolgellau Athletic 3
Llandrindod Wells 1 Kerry 2
Llanidloes Town 3 Llansantffraid 1
Llanuwchllyn 2 Brickfield Rangers 1
Penycae 2 Radnor Valley 0
Rhos Aelwyd 2 Llanfair United 2
ARDAL NORTH WEST
First hosts fourth and second entertains third – quite a Saturday in store for the Ardal North West League.
Leaders Porthmadog put their unbeaten record to the test against the always dangerous Rhyl 1879, whose form is not the best of late.
With home advantage, Port should shade it.
Newcomers to the league, Connah’s Quay Town and NFA, have both been fantastic so far. Town should be strong enough to take the win over their Rhyl visitors.
Dazzling Corwen against Trearddur Bay is another potential corker with a home win the pick.
Holyhead Hotspur should have too much for St Asaph at home, Llannefydd can pip Pwllheli, who will be out to impress new manager Carl Jones, and while Felinheli have been impressive of late, they might find it difficult at Llanrwst.
Menai Bridge can claim their first point at last when fellow strugglers Conwy Borough visit and improved Nantlle Vale are capable of bagging a share of the spoils at home to Llangefni.
