PREVIEWS

JD CYMRU NORTH

We kick off this weekend’s Cymru North action with three exciting looking contests on Friday.

With back-to-back wins behind them, and attacker Soulayman El Amri in electric form, Ruthin Town might just be beginning the sort of run they are capable of to send them shooting up the table.

Ruthin can pick up at least a point inconsistent Buckley Town.

Llandudno will be buoyed by their thrilling 3-2 midweek win at Prestatyn Town, but Denbigh Town away is a tougher prospect. The hosts will be anxious to bounce back after beginning 2024 with a heavy loss at Ruthin.

Holywell Town remain among the front-runners and while Friday’s trip to Gresford looks tricky, expect Johnny Haseldin’s men to edge the honours.

Saturday sees Bangor 1876 look a good bet for a home win against Chirk, although the Colliers are showing plenty of fight in their bid to avoid the drop.

Leaders Airbus should take the spoils at Caersws, while it’s difficult to bet against unbeaten Flint Town United at present and they can see off Guilsfield at the Essity.

Big changes in the air at Prestatyn Town and they need points badly. They should be good enough at Bastion Gardens to get past a Porthmadog side not in the best of form.

Mold Alexandra are flying in the goals department so expect them to bag a few against next-to-bottom Llanidloes.

SCORECASTS

Buckley Town 2 Ruthin Town 2

Denbigh Town 2 Llandudno 1

Gresford Athletic 1 Holywell Town 3

Bangor 1876 4 Chirk AAA 1

Caersws 1 Airbus UK Broughton 3

Flint Town United 4 Guilsfield 0

Prestatyn Town 3 Porthmadog 2

Mold Alexandra 5 Llanidloes Town 1

LOCK STOCK ARDAL NORTH EAST LEAGUE

Cefn Albion started the year with an emphatic 5-0 show at Welshpool and while Friday’s visit to Llansantffraid should be harder, the hosts are not looking too great of late so a win for Sean Jones’ boys looks a decent call.

Radnor Valley lost top spot last weekend after losing to new leaders Penrhyncoch.

Can the Presteigne side hit back at tricky opponents Dolgellau? We think they can edge the victory.

Away wins can definitely happen in these fixtures – Llanfair United v Bow Street, Llandrindod Wells v Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant and Welshpool Town v table toppers Penrhyncoch.

Llangollen Town can take at least a point at home to Builth Wells, while Llanuwchllyn should come out on top when they host Rhos Aelwyd.

SCORECASTS

Llansantffraid Village 1 Cefn Albion 3

Dolgellau AA 2 Radnor Valley 3

Llanfair United 1 Bow Street 2

Llangollen Town 1 Builth Wells 1

Llanuwchllyn 3 CPD Rhos Aelwyd 1

Llandrindod Wells 1 Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant 2

Welshpool Town 1 Penrhyncoch 4

LOCK STOCK ARDAL NORTH WEST LEAGUE

Nantlle Vale were superb winners over Rhyl 1879 last weekend, their 4-2 success ending the leaders’ 11-match unbeaten run in Ardal North West.

Vale face a testing visit to Brickfield on Saturday, but it is an examination they can pass on current form.

Llannefydd should have too much for Bethesda Athletic at home, while Rhyl can produce the right response at Pwllheli, who will be boosted by last weekend’s cracking win over Holyhead Hotspur, but the Lilywhites are a different proposition.

Hawarden Rangers have broken their winless hoodoo and this should stand them in good stead at home to fellow strugglers Felinheli.

St Asaph City can stay on the title trail with a win at Conwy Borough, while the ever-improving Llay Welfare are capable of leaving Holyhead with a share of the points.

SCORECASTS

Brickfield Rangers 2 Nantlle Vale 3

CPD Llannefydd 3 Bethesda Athletic 1

CPD Pwllheli 0 CPD Y Rhyl 1879 2

Hawarden Rangers 2 CPD Y Felinheli 1

Conwy Borough 1 St Asaph City 3

Holyhead Hotspur 2 Llay Welfare 1
