DragonBet guide card: How to watch Welsh football on TV

Last updated 6 October 2026. Broadcast details checked against the FAW, the EFL, Sky, S4C and the BBC.

Welsh football is split across a lot of broadcasters. The national team is free on the BBC and S4C. Cardiff, Swansea, Wrexham and Newport are on Sky. And the Cymru Premier has three routes of its own. Here’s where to find each one in 2026-27.

How to watch Wales

The BBC shows every Wales men’s UEFA match free, on TV and BBC iPlayer, under a deal that now runs to June 2028. That covers this autumn’s Nations League and every Euro 2028 qualifier. Radio commentary is on BBC Sounds.

S4C shows all six of Wales’ 2026-27 Nations League games live in Welsh, on S4C, S4C Clic and BBC iPlayer, under its Sgorio banner.

Wales are in League A, Group 4 with Portugal, Denmark and Norway. They lost their first two games away in September, 1-0 in Portugal and 2-0 in Denmark. Back in Cardiff in October they beat Norway 2-1, their first win in League A, then lost 1-0 to Denmark. Two games are left:

Date Fixture Kick-off On TV
Sat 14 Nov 2026 Norway v Wales 5pm BBC, S4C
Tue 17 Nov 2026 Wales v Portugal, Cardiff City Stadium 7:45pm BBC, S4C

Which BBC channel carries each game varies, so check the listings on the day. Both stream on BBC iPlayer. Our Wales fixtures page has every result, the group table and what this autumn means for Euro 2028 seeding, and we update it after each game.

The women’s team is on the BBC too. BBC Cymru Wales holds the rights to every Wales women’s international until 2027.

Looking further ahead, Cardiff opens Euro 2028. Our Euro 2028 guide covers how Wales can qualify.

How to watch Cardiff City, Swansea City and Wrexham

All three are in the Championship in 2026-27, and Newport County are in League Two. Sky Sports holds the EFL rights and shows more than 1,000 games a season, including every midweek and Bank Holiday game.

The regular slots are Saturday at 12:30pm, Friday evening and Sunday afternoon, plus some Thursday and Monday nights. Sky Sports+ comes at no extra cost with a Sky Sports subscription and carries the overflow games. On the opening weekend it showed the 3pm kick-offs.

Two rules catch people out:

  • The Saturday blackout. No game kicking off between 2:45pm and 5:15pm on a Saturday can be shown live in the UK. If your club kicks off at 3pm on a Saturday and isn’t picked for TV, there’s no legal way to watch it live in the UK.
  • iFollow is for overseas fans. The EFL’s streaming service shows League One, League Two and non-televised Championship games, but only to viewers outside the UK.

Free highlights of every EFL game go up on the Sky Sports website and YouTube.

The South Wales derby is the fixture most likely to be picked for TV. Swansea v Wrexham on 5 September was on Sky Sports Main Event.

How to watch the Cymru Premier

The Welsh top flight, now the Novira Cymru Premier after JD’s sponsorship ended in June, has the most options of any Welsh league:

  • S4C renewed its deal for three years. It shows more than 40 live games a season across the Cymru Premier, the Adran women’s leagues and the Welsh Cups, on S4C, S4C Clic, BBC iPlayer and the Sgorio YouTube channel. Most of its picks stream online, with some on S4C itself.
  • BBC Cymru Wales has a new three-year deal with the FAW for at least 20 live games a year on BBC iPlayer, running to 2029.
  • Cymru Football TV streams every league game. It costs £8.99 a game, £12.99 a month or £99.99 a season.

So if you follow one club every week, Cymru Football TV is the only way to see every game. If you just want the big ones, S4C and the BBC between them are free. The next game listed for S4C’s main channel is The New Saints v Connah’s Quay Nomads on 31 October.

The Welsh Cup is part of S4C’s deal, but S4C hasn’t said which rounds it will show this season.

Quick answers

What channel is Wales football on?

Are Wales games free to watch?

Yes. Every Wales men’s UEFA match is free on the BBC until June 2028, and every Wales women’s international is on BBC Cymru Wales until 2027.
