Wales football fixtures 2026: kick-off times, TV channels and the Euro 2028 stakes

Wales are back in League A, and the draw has been unkind. Portugal, Denmark and Norway, starting in Lisbon a fortnight from now.

This page keeps every fixture, the UK kick-off times and how to watch in one place, and we update it as broadcast details firm up.

Wales’ Nations League fixtures

Six games across three windows. The FAW has yet to confirm the venue for the home fixtures, and we will add it here when they do.

The group

Group A4 is about as hard as League A gets. Portugal have been a top-four side for a decade. Norway have Erling Haaland. Denmark reached a European Championship semi-final and have been a difficult night for everyone since.

Wales are here because they earned it, topping their League B group last campaign to go straight back up under Craig Bellamy. The reward is four games against sides ranked above them and two against a Denmark team who will fancy their chances of finishing above Wales.

Staying in League A is a realistic target. Winning the group would be a genuine shock.

Two routes to Euro 2028, and both run through this autumn

Wales have more riding on these six games than the table suggests, because there are two separate ways the Nations League feeds into Euro 2028, the tournament that opens in Cardiff.

The seeding. These standings decide the pots for the qualifying draw on 6 December. Finish well and Wales avoid a group with two of the continent’s best. Finish badly and the draw gets a lot harder before a ball is kicked.

The play-off route. Nations League group winners can earn access to the March 2028 play-offs for the last places at the finals. That is a long shot from a group with Portugal in it, but it exists.

Add the host-nation safety net, where two places are held for the best-ranked hosts who miss out, and Wales have more ways into their own tournament than most sides get. They would still much rather qualify properly.

A note on the away kick-offs

Two of the away games are Sunday and Saturday teatime rather than the usual midweek evening, so the 5:00pm UK starts against Denmark on 27 September and Norway on 14 November are easy ones to miss. The rest are the familiar 7:45pm.

Free to air, on the BBC and S4C. UEFA’s rights agreement keeping Wales games on the BBC runs to 2028, and S4C carries them alongside with Welsh-language commentary.

The club sides

Cardiff City, Swansea City and Wrexham are all in the Championship together this season, which has not happened in living memory. The South Wales derby is at the Swansea.com Stadium on Sunday 29 November.
