CYMRU NORTH

Holywell Town will target a 22nd successive league win when they travel to next-bottom Penrhyncoch on Saturday.

Victory for the Wellmen will move them to within nine points of leaders Colwyn Bay with a game in hand.

Everything is building up nicely for a major crunch clash when Bay host Holywell on March 25.

Holywell should have too much for Penrhyn although the Roosters have drawn their last three games and will not roll over easily.

In the only other league game of the weekend, bottom side Holyhead Hotspur visit Mold Alexandra.

Hotspur are fighting for survival, but have won just once in the league since August. They did hold Mold 2-2 at home in October, but Alex are unbeaten in three and should just edge it.

Double-chasing Colwyn Bay welcome Guilsfield for a WBS League Cup northern semi-final on Saturday.

One of Bay’s 25 league victories on the bounce was a 6-0 thrashing of Guilsfield in January.

However, since that hammering at Llanelian Road, Guils’ only losses in 12 games both came against Holywell Town, in the Cymru North and Welsh Cup.

The Powys outfit can be a tricky opponent and Bay might not run away with this one, but it is so hard to back against them.

In the other northern semi, Porthmadog entertain Chirk AAA.

Port will certainly be out to avoid a repetition of the 5-0 home defeat they suffered at the hands of the Colliers last month. Chirk also beat Craig Papirnyk’s men in the reverse league fixture at Holyhead Road in August.

This one could be close, with Port showing improvement of late, but Chirk can take the honours.

SCORECASTS

LOCK STOCK ARDAL NORTH EAST

Third-place Bow Street look a solid pick for victory at home to Llangollen Town, while the same can be said for Builth Wells when they welcome Llanfair United to Lant Avenue.

Llanfair have not won a league game since October – 10 matches ago.

Leaders Caersws can make it five league matches without defeat when Penycae visit the Recreation Ground, while second-place Cefn Albion look good for three points at Dolgellau.

Llanuwchllyn can see off bottom team Rhayader Town comfortably and Corwen can claim at least a point at Welshpool.

SCORECASTS

Bow Street 3 Llangollen Town 0

Builth Wells 3 Llanfair United 1

Caersws 4 Penycae 0

Dolgellau 0 Cefn Albion 2

Llanuwchllyn 5 Rhayader Town 1

Welshpool Town 1 Corwen 3

LOCK STOCK ARDAL NORTH WEST

Table-toppers CPD Y Rhyl 1879 may have a fight on their hands at battling Felinheli this Saturday, but the Lilywhites must have a strong chance of an eighth straight league win.

Off-form Bangor 1876 should bounce back to winning ways at Hawarden, but will need to be wary of a home side which has won two of their last three and have hauled themselves out of the bottom two.

Llandudno Albion can take a point at least against inconsistent Nantlle Vale and Llay Welfare should have the measure of Llanrwst at The Ring.

Llangefni Town are good enough to return from Rhostyllen with maximum points and a draw looks the best call when Saltney Town host Brickfield Rangers.

SCORECASTS

CPD Y Felinheli 0 CPD Y Rhyl 1879 2

Hawarden Rangers 1 Bangor 1876 3

Llandudno Albion 2 Nantlle Vale 2

Llay Welfare 3 Llanrwst United 1

Rhostyllen 1 Llangefni Town 2

Saltney Town 1 Brickfield Rangers 1
