DragonBet Welsh League Football Preview, Fixtures And Predictions

PREVIEWS

JD CYMRU NORTH

With a number of Tier 2 clubs involved in Welsh Cup action this weekend, just two matches are scheduled for the JD Cymru North.

The first of them is on Friday night when Llandudno host Chirk AAA.

This bottom-of-the-table clash was due to take place at the OPS Wind Arena in Llandudno, where a new 4G pitch is being built, but bad weather this week has prevented contractors getting the surface ready in time.

Llandudno were looking forward to playing their first home match in more than 12 months, the previous 3G pitch at Maesdu Park having been condemned as unfit for purpose, but their supporters will have to wait a while longer for the much-awaited homecoming.

Llandudno’s improved form of late should serve them well against basement boys Chirk.

On Saturday, unbeaten leaders Holywell Town travel to next-from-bottom Llanidloes Town with an away win the expected outcome.

SCORECASTS

Llandudno 2 Chirk AAA 1

Llanidloes Town 1 Holywell Town 3

Friday evening brings a fascinating battle between third-place Llansantffraid and Dolgellau Amateur Athletic in sixth.

Dol’s form has picked up in recent weeks and they could well get something at Saints.

Llandrindod Wells should edge the verdict over a Penycae side who will be making a ninth attempt to record their first league win.

Title hopefuls Cefn Albion can take maximum reward at Llanrhaeadr, while table-toppers Penrhyncoch should overcome a Rhos Aelwyd outfit still to catch fire.

Match of the day could be the tussle at The Bypass between Radnor Valley in fourth and second-place Bow Street. Draw looks favourite here.

Bottom team Welshpool are yet to win in seven league games but may have a decent chance of a draw at home to third-bottom Llangollen Town.

SCORECASTS

In what will be their first match under new manager Matt Sampson, second-place Llanrwst have the firepower to outscore Brickfield.

Holyhead should prevail narrowly at home to improved Conwy, and while Tier 3 newcomers Llannefydd have started the campaign well, visitors Pwllheli can emerge victorious.

Bethesda are not playing badly, but are struggling for results. High-flyers Llay can make life tough for Pesda, but it might finish up closer than expected.

One of the matches of the day takes place at Roe Plas Meadows, where Nantlle Vale need to win to stay among the leaders when they meet St Asaph City.

Draw looks a good bet here, with Vale always up for a battle,

Felinheli have made themselves quite hard to beat this season and Llangefni might have to be content with a point at Cae Seilo.

Leaders Rhyl 1879 could strengthen their position at the summit, with visitors Saltney not enjoying the best of starts to the campaign.
