If you follow Cardiff, the Dragons, the Ospreys or the Scarlets, the short answer is Premier Sports for every game and S4C for one free game a round. The longer answer depends on the competition, and that’s what this page covers: the United Rugby Championship, Europe and Super Rygbi Cymru, for the 2026-27 season.

How to watch the URC: Cardiff, Dragons, Ospreys and Scarlets
Premier Sports holds the UK and Ireland rights to the United Rugby Championship until the end of 2028-29. That covers all 151 games a season, so if you want to see your region every week, it’s the only option.
S4C is the free route. 2026-27 is the second season of its 2-season deal. This is how it worked in 2025-26, and S4C hasn’t announced different numbers for this season:
- 20 live games a season, 1 per round, always involving a Welsh region.
- Welsh and English commentary on the live games, so you don’t need to speak Welsh to follow them.
- 18 more games shown deferred, with Welsh commentary only.
- Streamed on S4C Clic, BBC iPlayer and S4C’s YouTube channel, as well as S4C on TV.
So for most rounds, one Welsh region is on free TV and the other three are on Premier Sports. S4C names its game for each round in advance, so check its listings before the weekend.
The Welsh derbies
The festive derbies are the fixtures fans ask about most. Cardiff and the Dragons meet twice in a week. These are the dates and kick-offs the clubs published in May:

All 5 will be on Premier Sports. S4C hasn’t named its picks for those rounds yet, and kick-off times can still move for TV, so check again in December. We’ll update this table when the picks are confirmed.
How to watch the Champions Cup and Challenge Cup
Premier Sports shows European club rugby in the UK under a 3-year deal that runs to the end of 2026-27. That’s all 63 Investec Champions Cup games. In the Challenge Cup it’s 2 pool games a round, 2 round-of-16 ties and every game from the quarter-finals on.
Round 1 is on 16-18 October 2026 and the Champions Cup final is in Lyon on 22 May 2027. ITV showed the 2026 finals free, but no free-to-air deal for 2027 has been announced yet.
How to watch Super Rygbi Cymru
Super Rygbi Cymru is the WRU’s top domestic league: 10 clubs including Cardiff, Newport, Pontypool and Llandovery, playing from 12 September 2026 to a Grand Final on 9 May 2027.
Last season S4C showed 1 live game a round in Welsh and English, and put highlights of every game on YouTube along with a weekly highlights show. We haven’t found anything confirming the same package for 2026-27. Your best bet is the S4C Chwaraeon YouTube channel and S4C Clic, and we’ll update this section as soon as it’s confirmed.
For the leagues below Super Rygbi Cymru, we couldn’t find any live TV coverage this season.
Will there still be four Welsh regions?
For 2026-27, yes. All four are in the URC fixture list and the TV arrangements above cover all of them.
Beyond that it’s less certain. The WRU still plans to go from four professional teams to three from 2028-29, and reports in September 2026 disagree about which clubs are safe. None of this affects how you watch this season.

Cardiff v Dragons on Saturday 19 December 2026, Dragons v Cardiff and Ospreys v Scarlets on Saturday 26 December, then Scarlets v Dragons and Cardiff v Ospreys on Saturday 2 January 2027. All 5 are on Premier Sports.
