Cymru North & Ardal Northern Preview, 16th & 17th December

*Odds will appear on the day of the match

JD Cymru North fixtures – Friday, December 16 (7.30 pm)

Cefn Druids v Porthmadog, Conwy Borough v Mold Alexandra, Guilsfield v Gresford Athletic, Holywell Town v Chirk AAA, Llandudno v Prestatyn Town

Predictions

Five Cymru North matches on Friday night’s roster with star billing going to third-place Llandudno taking on Prestatyn Town in fifth at Nantporth Stadium, Bangor.

These sides have already met twice this season at Bastion Gardens, hosts Prestatyn winning 2-0 in the Welsh Cup on October 8, but Tudno gaining revenge a month later with a 2-1 success in the league.

Friday’s battle should be very close, but Llandudno can just gain the upper hand.

Second-place Holywell Town will target a 12th straight win in all competitions and a remarkable 13th victory on the bounce in the league when they host struggling Chirk.

It is hard to see anything over than a positive outcome for the Wellmen. Chirk are without a league win in seven attempts and were hammered 6-1 at Cefn Druids last weekend.

On-fire Cefn Druids should have too much for Porthmadog at The Rock, while draws look the likeliest outcomes when Conwy Borough entertain Mold Alexandra and Guilsfield entertain Gresford Athletic.

JD Cymru North fixtures – Saturday, December 17 (2.30 pm unless stated)

Buckley Town v Penrhyncoch (2 pm), Colwyn Bay v Llanidloes Town, Holyhead Hotspur v Ruthin Town

Predictions

Leaders Colwyn Bay look a great bet to make it 15 matches unbeaten when they take on Llanidloes Town at the Four Crosses Construction Arena on Saturday afternoon.

Buckley Town might find it tricky at home to Penrhyncoch but should just shade it, while a Holyhead Hotspur side in desperate need of points may find visitors Ruthin too strong.

Lock Stock Ardal North East fixtures – Saturday, December 17 (all 2 pm unless stated)

Llandrindod Wells v Dolgellau (2.30 pm), Llanfair United v Corwen, Llanuwchllyn v Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant, Rhayader Town v Caersws (2.30 pm), Rhos Aelwyd v Bow Street, Welshpool Town v Builth Wells (2.30 pm).

Predictions

With leaders Cefn Albion not in action, second-place Caersws can close the gap to a point with four games in hand if they win at Rhayader Town.

‘Sws edged a 2-1 home victory over Saturday’s opponents back in September, but expect a more emphatic Bluebirds success this time around.

Rhos Aelwyd will be out to turn the tables when they entertain a Bow Street outfit which has beaten them twice already this term.

Back in August, Bow bashed Aelwyd 4-0 at Cae Piod in the league before also winning 2-0 at Ponciau Park in the Ardal North Cup just a fortnight ago.

Rhos will probably have to be satisfied with a draw in this latest meeting.

Fourth-place Llanfair United look a good shout to see off a Corwen outfit they have already caned 5-1 away this season.

Llandrindod Wells v Dolgellau and Welshpool Town v Builth Wells have the look of draws, but with home advantage Llanuwchllyn should conquer bottom side Llanrhaeadr.

Lock Stock Ardal North West fixtures – Saturday, December 17 (all 2 pm unless stated)

Brickfield Rangers v Bangor 1876, Flint Mountain v Llangefni Town (2.30 pm), Llanrwst United v Denbigh Town, Llay Welfare v Nantlle Vale, Rhostyllen v CPD Y Rhyl 1879, CPD Y Felinheli v Hawarden Rangers

Predictions

Brickfield Rangers will likely find the going tough when they play hosts to a Bangor 1876 side which thrashed them 6-0 at Treborth early in the season.

It will be harder for 1876 at Clywedog Park, but we’d expect Michael Johnston’s table-toppers to maintain their unbeaten record.

CPD Y Rhyl 1879 can stay on 1876’s tails with three points at still winless Rhostyllen, and on-fire Flint Mountain should have too much firepower for Llangefni Town.

Denbigh Town’s only league defeat this season came on the opening night at home to Llanrwst United. Town can exact revenge at Gwydir Park on Saturday.

Llay Welfare will be anxious to bounce back from last weekend’s 4-1 home loss to Flint Mountain when they greet unpredictable Nantlle Vale at The Ring.

Welfare won the reverse fixture 3-1 at Maes Dulyn, but the return could be closer.

Hawarden Rangers have unluckily slipped to bottom after losing six points following the withdrawal of Bodedern Athletic, who they had beaten twice.

Rangers will launch their quest for catch-up points at Y Felinheli, who should just nick a tight verdict at Cae Seilo.
