Royal Ascot 2027: dates, the big races and how to watch

Racegoers in hats and morning dress packed into the stands at Royal Ascot

Last updated 12 August 2026. Dates verified against Ascot Racecourse’s published schedule.

Five days in June when the flat season empties its trophy cabinet. Royal Ascot is Britain’s grandest race meeting: 35 races, royal processions, impossible hats, and some of the best horses on the planet.

When is Royal Ascot 2027?

Tuesday 15 to Saturday 19 June 2027 at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire. Racing every afternoon, with the royal procession up the straight before the first each day.

The week’s big races

Every day carries at least one championship race:

  • Tuesday: the Queen Anne Stakes opens the meeting, with the King Charles III Stakes for the sprinters
  • Wednesday: the Prince of Wales’s Stakes, often the highest-rated race of the week
  • Thursday: Gold Cup day. Two and a half miles for the great stayers, first run in 1807
  • Friday: the Commonwealth Cup and Coronation Stakes for the 3-year-olds
  • Saturday: the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes brings down the curtain

How to watch

ITV Racing carries every day of Royal Ascot live and free in the UK.

The Welsh at the royal meeting

Flat racing’s Welsh contingent is small but busy, led for years by Bargoed’s David Probert, one of the most in-demand riders in the weighing room. And for the view from the other side of the counter, read the Dragon’s Mouth on what a Royal Ascot heatwave does to a bookmaker.

Betting on Royal Ascot

Thirty-five races in 5 days, with international raiders, unexposed 2-year-olds and 20-runner handicaps. It’s the week that makes the flat season for punters and bookmakers alike. Draw bias and the going matter enormously on the straight course, and the each-way terms in the big handicaps deserve a look before you commit.

DragonBet prices every race of the week on our horse racing odds page, with tips and previews in our Royal Ascot section as the meeting approaches.
