Search of two more winners at Worcester: Friday Horse Racing Preview

Peter and Sean Bowen go in search of two more winners at Worcester on Friday, with Courtland looking their best hope in the Dora Larner 92nd Birthday Celebration Handicap Chase (6.10pm).

A winner at both Ffos Las and Newtown Abbot two summers ago, Courtland finished sixth last time out at Uttoxeter in March behind Not Sure in his only race this year.

The Bowen trainer and jockey partnership also pair up in the opening race of the evening, the Colin Nelson Memorial Handicap Chase (5.40pm) on Paddy’s Return.

There’s Welsh interest, also, in the final race on the Worcester card with the Tim Vaughan-trained Nordy Lordy, ridden by Alan Johns, in the Fitzdares Handicap Hurdle.

Nordy Lordy was fifth over hurdles at Warwick earlier this month and before that pulled up at Taunton in April.

Welsh jockey Adam Wedge also features in that final race, on board Beat The Storm, who trailed in last at Chepstow in heavy going in January.

Elsewhere, there is racing on Friday at Bath, Goodwood, Haydock and Pontefract.

Monmouthshire trainer David Evans has five horses entered at Bath – Man Made of Smoke, Rust E Boy, Fiddler’s Elbow, Portelet Boy and Mabre.

Mabre looks the best opportunity in the Octagon Consultancy Handicap (5.35pm) after winning at Newbury last week.

Jockey Olivia Tubb will be looking to repeat that victory in the Starlight Apprentice Handicap, her first win riding for Evans.

Evans also has a runner at Goodwood on Friday, the fancied Lihou, in the William Hill Handicap (4.45pm).
